A policeman who received an award in 2020 for rejecting a total of N864 million bribe in three years has considered resignation from the police force.
It was alleged on Saturday that Francis Erhabor, the divisional police officer of Itam, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, had resigned from his job over lack of promotion.
It was also alleged that the policeman, who is a chief superintendent of police (CSP), began considering resignation after witnessing a pattern that has allegedly seen his subordinates get promoted to become his superiors, but TheCable reported that the policeman only went on a three-day break to decide if he should leave the Force.
Mr Erhabor was in January given the 2019 Integrity Icon Award for “rejecting a N6 million weekly bribe to compromise the security system” while he was a pipeline commander in Edo. His allowance at the time was N37,500. Erhabor joined the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) as a cadet inspector in 1990.
